Terry has a bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in chemical engineering but his real passion is bass fishing. In the early 2000s he started delving into the math and statistics involved with fish. His first venture resulted in a weight estimation model (formula) for trophy-sized largemouth bass. Then in 2004, he started studying fisheries management and the science behind it to help a close friend manage his 100-acre “pond” in southern California.

The math and statistics are well known but to the person with little math experience, are, at best, hard to deal with. This is when Terry decided to put together PondStat, a software program and database for the private pond owner that took the math out of pond management.

Terry has worked as a research engineer for over 30 years in the field of nuclear engineering. He spent most of his career working for the Department of Energy national laboratories, supporting the war fighter. He also spent seven years as the Rad/Nuke/Chem Subject Matter Expert for the Dept of Defense Special Operations Community.
