Founder & Fisheries Research LeadTerry combines an engineer’s analytical approach with a lifelong passion for bass fishing and a deep interest in the science of fishery management.
Terry earned bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering. In the early 2000s, he began studying the mathematics and statistics used to evaluate fish, initially developing a weight-estimation model for trophy-sized largemouth bass.
In 2004, a close friend asked Terry for help managing a large private pond in Southern California. Terry created a spreadsheet to organize catch information and perform the necessary fishery calculations, but the process was still too complicated for the average pond owner.
That experience established the original purpose of PondStat: give pond owners an easier way to collect their data, perform accepted calculations and recognize changes in their fishery through time.
The math and statistics were already known. The challenge was making them practical for the private pond owner.

Co-Founder & Technology LeadAsad brings more than 25 years of web and technology experience to the development, operation and continued improvement of PondStat.
Asad earned a degree in computer science and has designed and developed hundreds of websites during his career. His work includes fishing-industry platforms such as BassFan and Bassmaster, along with large corporate websites outside the fishing industry.
For PondStat, Asad developed the technology that stores raw pond information in a structured database and transforms that information into the calculated data used for pond management.
His role is to translate the scientific requirements behind PondStat into an application that remains organized, practical and accessible to people who do not work with fisheries math or spreadsheets every day.
Asad leads the platform’s software development, database architecture, technical operation and user experience.
